Curriculum

Curriculum for Children
The curriculum is “theme based”. Students are introduced to groups of vocabulary based on a theme. They are taught to manipulate the words, to create conversations, and progress to becoming proficient speaker.
The program is also based on both State and National Standards for teaching foreign languages.
Routines are used to promote a consistent use of basic social conversation. A calendar routine becomes a visual, oral and tactile way to promote conversation. Weather, months, days of the week, dates, birthdays, seasons and a dress up bear are the foundation of an easy and fun way to carry on a basic conversation.
The book and CD Say It in Spanish© by Nancy Papa-Ruppert is used to reinforce vocabulary at home. It was created to be both child and parent friendly.
Curriculum for middle school to high school
Whether your age is 3, 15, 30 or 60 the process of learning a language is the same.
When teaching middle and high school students the curriculum takes into account the ability level of the student.
The focus is on how languages will be used in academics, but never forgetting that learning needs to be fun and engaging.
Middle school and high school students are taught using both routines and groups of vocabulary. We use daily conversation in the target language to teach culture, grammar and a love of learning a foreign language.
Teaching resources are both traditional textbooks and supplemental materials designed to engage and captivate the learner’s attention.
Curriculum for adults
Based on the need and purpose of learning a foreign language a program is custom designed.
Language for enjoyment and conversation
An adult learner, who is taking a language to learn basic conversational skills, requires both exposure to the patterns of conversations, and the learning of basic vocabulary.
The classes are taught using the target language, pictures, texbooks, and materials which make learning fun and achievable.
The goal is to make the students conversant without anxiety. The lessons teach skills but maintain a light hearted approach.
Language for business and travel
A business learner requires an intense immersion into the language.
The classes are taught in the target language and they focus on quickly getting the student up to speed in the foreign language.
The goal is to teach vocabulary, language patterns and strategies which will work to effectively communicate in a foreign language.
There will also be appropriate cultural instruction as to basic greeting and social customs, which will make communication more effective.
